The given line charts illustrate the monthly number of visitors from France and North America to the UK for holiday and business purposes.
Overall, the number of North American visitors for holidays peaked sharply in July, while the figure for French holidaymakers observed a similar but less dramatic pattern. It is also noticeable that both countries experienced notable fluctuations for business purposes, with North America constantly higher than that of France.
In January, fewer than 1 million from each country travelled to the UK for holidays, with French visitors slightly outnumbering those from North America. Over the following six months, the number of travellers from North America witnessed a significant surge and peaked at around 3 million in July, before declining steadily to just under 1 million by December, similar to the number in January. Meanwhile, the number of French holidaymakers also rose slightly, reaching a peak of approximately 1.5 million in July, followed by a decrease back to its initial level.
Regarding the second graph, both regions shared a similar trend. In January, around 0.05 million North American visitors came to the UK for business, which was 0.1 million higher than that of France. Both figures for North America and France visitors saw a sharp rise in the first five months, a slight dip in July, and a secondary peak in October before falling again at the end of the year, at roughly 0.25 million for the former and 0.1 million for the latter.
