The line graph illustrates household recycling rates in three European countries – the UK, France, and Germany – between 2005 and 2015.
Overall, recycling rates in the UK and Germany showed a steady upward trend over the period, while France experienced an initial decline followed by a slight recovery. By 2015, the UK recorded the highest recycling rate, whereas France remained the lowest among the three countries.
In 2005, France had the highest recycling rate at approximately 50%, compared with around 35% in the UK and only 20% in Germany. However, France’s rate gradually declined to about 30% in 2013 before recovering modestly to roughly 40% in 2015.
By contrast, the UK demonstrated consistent growth, rising from about 35% in 2005 to just over 60% by the end of the period. Germany also showed significant improvement, increasing steadily from approximately 20% to around 55% in 2015, making it the second highest recycling country.
