Overall, all provinces except Alberta increased the share of international graduates. Notably, British Columbia doubled the figure over the years.
In 2001, there was a narrowing gap between provinces. New Brunswick led the way with approximately 7% of international graduates, followed by Nova Scotia and Quebec with approximately 6,5% and over 6%. The remaining provinces in the chart exhibited lower rates, ranging from 3.5% to 5%.
In 2006, the proportion of international students increased in most regions except Alberta. New Brunswick still had the highest rate, at about 11.5%. Nova Scotia and British Columbia had an equal rate of about 10.5%. The remaining provinces in the region, excluding Alberta, also had high rates ranging from 6% to 8.5%. On the other hand, only in Alberta did the proportion of international students decrease, from 5.5% to 4.5%.
