Overall, number of elderly people have increased until 2040 in all countries with Japan having the highest percentage in the end, ehile Sweden have shown gradually increase and USA passed second latest in 2040
In 1940, only about 7% of elderly people lived in Sweden, compared with around 5% in Japan and approximately 9% in USA. During the next 6 decades, both Japan and Sweden saw a significant rise, reaching about 12% and 17% respectively by 2000 but USA fluctuated between 15% and 14% compared to 20 years and remained second rate.
Between 2000 and 2040, number of elderly people continued to expand in all three countries. The figures of Japan increased sharply in 2020 and maintaining leading position until this in 2040. Sweden, after moderately growth, levelled off 25%. Meanwhile, USA rose gradually to around 23% by 2040
