The line graph illustrates how energy production from coal changed in four European countries from 1995 to 2010.
Overall, the percentage of energy produced from coal in these countries saw a downward trend. In addition, although in the first year of the period, Denmark produced the highest proportion of energy from coal, it was surpassed by Sweden in 2010.
In 1995, there were 60% of energy in Denmark produced from coal, followed by a significant drop to only 10% over the 15-year period. In terms of Sweden, this nation produced approximately 35% of energy from coal in the first surveyed year, after which this number slightly decreased to under 30% in 2010. However, Sweden surpassed Denmark and became the remarkable producer of energy from coal in 2010.
Regarding the remain countries, the proportion of energy generated from coal in France moderately declined from 30% to around 25% throughout the period. In addition, starting with about 50% in 1995, the figure for Germany recorded a dramatic fall to about a mere 5% in 2007 before sharply rising to nearly 20% at the end of the period.
