Experiencing a rapid growth, the under 15-year-old group increased from 8 million in 1950 to approximately 25 million inhabitants in 2020 and expected to witness a consistent rise to under 30 million people in the next 20 years. However, there was a steady increase of the people over 65 years old across 70 years from around 3 million to more than 5 million dwellers and was predicted to surpass the population of people aged 15 to 65 in later years with 10 million inhabitants.
