Overall, what stands out from the chart is that the amount money spent on protecting crops in Australia and Africa increased while it decreased for Europe throughout the year. On the other hand, the amount of crops which were damaged by insects increased in all countries whereas crops damaged by fires decreased in Europe while it was the highest figure in Australia. Noticeable point is that crop damaged by floods was the lowest figure in Africa.
Looking at chart in more details it can be seen that money spent on crops protection in Australia, Europe, and Africa stood at 800 million, roughly 290 million, and about 210 million in the month of Jan- March, respectively. It rose in Australia and Africa to approximately 900 million and roughly 390 million whereas it experienced a significant decrease in Europe in the whole period of 2005.
On the other hand, the amount of crops which was damaged by fires was the highest figure which was roughly 850 thousands of hectares whereas damaged by insects and floods were comparatively lower which were approximately 410 and 200 thousands of hectares in Australia. In addition, the amount of crops which was damaged by floods stood at approximately 650 thousands of hectares in Europe while it decreased to roughly 250 thousands of hectares in Africa. And the figure for insects and fires accounted for about 580 thousands of hectares and 210 thousands of hectares in Europe and it increased significantly in Africa.
