Overall, the number of British visitors who were aged 0-15, 16-24, and 55 or over saw an upward trend, while both the 25-34 and 34-54 age groups witnessed the opposite. Additionally, British visitors who were aged 34-54 still accounted for the highest percentage throughout most of the period
In the first year, the 16-24 age group comprised for the lowest proportion in the chart, at 4%. But there was a significant increase in this age group to 15% in 2003. Similarly, the number of British tourists who were aged 0-15 and 55 or more also showed the considerable growth, starting from 10% and 16% in 1983, then reaching at 12% and 26% in the final year, respectively
In terms of the remaining age groups, Spain welcomed 20% of visitors from the UK who were aged 25-34 in 1983, then this figure declined substantially to only 12% in 2003. Finally, the number of British tourists who paid a visit to Spain was mostly the 34-54 age group. In the first year, this age group accounted for 50% (the biggest percentage in the chart) before decreasing steeply to 35% in 2003
