The chart illustrates the quantities of fish and other types of meat consumed in a European nation from 1979 to 2007. Overall, the data are represented by the number of grams per person per week of chicken, beef, lamb, and fish during 5-year intervals in the aforementioned span of time.
First of all, it is evident that fish was the least consumed meat during the entire period. Generally, its trend was constant throughout the period, with a value of nearly 50 grams per person per week. Lamb consumption declined throughout the period; it started with a value of 150 and decreased to almost 70.
Beef started as the most consumed meat in 1979. Between 1979 and 1984, it achieved a peak and entered a plateau until 1988, then it constantly declined to 100 in 2004. In contrast, chicken consumption started with a value approximately similar to lamb and rose exponentially, overtaking beef consumption in 1989 and finally achieving 250 in 2004.
