The bar chart and the line graph illustrate how many individuals visited Australia from three nations, namely the US, the UK and Japan and what types of travels they enjoyed from 1995 to 2005.
Overall, Australia welcomed more and more visitors from the UK and the US while ranking highest in 1995, Japanese tourists tended to travel to this country less. In addition, Backpacking was consistently the dominant choice but then declined, staying at resorts was more and more popular yet was lover than backpacking.
Looking first at tourist numbers, Australia attracted 1.500.000 Japanese tourists, which was around twice the figure for British tourists and triple that for American tourists in 1995. In 2005, both the UK and the US witnessed significant rises in tourist numbers, reaching an equal figure of 1.500.000. Meanwhile, an opposite movement, yet with lower intensity, can be observed in the figure for Japan, which fell to just 1.000.000 during the same time.
As for the remaining types of travels, Backpacking was the highest choice at around 1.500.000 in 1995, before peaking the top spot of just over 2.500.000 in 2000, followed by decreasing dramatically to around 1.000.000 in 2005. Having an opposite trend, albeit less pronounced, the figure for Staying at resorts show a slight growth from approximately 300.000 in 1995 to be equal to the figure of Backpacking in 2005.
