The given line chart illustrates the labour force in Australia in five different industries from 1962 to 2012.
In general, it is obvious that there was a downward trend for the proportion of agriculture and manufacturing industries, while the reverse was true for that of services; moreover, construction and mining nearly remained stable over the period. In addition,a vast number of workers participated in services sector, higher than the figures for the remaining industries.
Initially, over 50% of workforce in Australia worked in services industry, the data then increased steadily to 75% after 40-year period and finished at about fourh-fifth in 2012.
Turning next to remaining industries, the employment proportion for manufacturing started at over 25% in 1962, then it continued to decrease gradually over the years before converging at 10% with construction sector, which stayed entirely unchanged in the end of the period. Following the same pattern, just over one-tenth of the labour force in Australia employed in agriculture industry, the data decreased slightly afterwards and reached the low of only 2% in 2012, matching the same point with mining sector.
