The diagram illustrates the various steps needed to produce paper from the extraction of the raw material to the manufacturing of the paper.
There are three distinct stages: processing the wood, pulping and finally the creation of the paper itself. Each phase uses its own specialized equipment.
First of all trees are extracted and felled by means of a bulldozer. After that, the timber is sent for de-barking to a building which contains a machine specially designed for that purpose. Once the bark has been removed, the wood is placed in a chipping machine to be broken down into smaller fragments. The wood chips are fed into the second stage, which as called pulping, which cab be done mechanically, chemically or by using a hydrapulper.
The last stage is where the pulp is screened and cleaned, ready to be introduced into the paper making machine where the end product is produced.
