Broadly, it can be said that, the salary has decreased but the expenditure on basic nessecities almost remains the same. In the year 2010, people use to spend quite less on fruits and vegetables and dairy products but more on meat, fish and clothes. On contrast, in 2013, the spend more on grocery and less on protein rich foods and dressing.
In 2010, the average earning of a household was approximately £29,000 but over the years, it has been reduced to £25,000. While, the overall expenses has increased by £1000 pounds from £14,000 to £15,000. Conversely, people spend the same on beverages and drinks.
However, they have started to spend more on fruits and vegetables from 1/5th of their income to approx 35% of it and 5% more on dairy items. Meanwhile, they prefer to spend less now on clothing and meat by 10%.
