The line graph illustrates the proportions of household recycling in three nations: Germany, France, and the United Kingdom from 2005 to 2015.
Overall, both two countries Germany and the UK witnessed an upward trend throughout the 10-year period, while the opposite was true for France.
In 2005, France led in the percentage of household waste recycled, at 50%, followed by just 35% in the UK and only a fifth in Germany. The UK then increased slightly to 40% and equaled the figure for France in 2008. Similarly, Germany also recorded a significant rise to stand at approximately 33% after 4 years, whereas the percentage of household recycling in France decreased dramatically by 12% in 2009.
In terms of the rest of the period, Germany observed a sharp growth to peak at 60% in 2015. Likewise, the figure for the UK went up tremedously to surpass France at 35% in 2010 and continued growing to about 58% 6 years later. The period from 2009 to 2015 recorded a moderate decline in the residential recycling rate in France, hitting a trough at 30% before increasing by 10% in 2015.
