The given line graph illustrates the proportion of individuals who smoked out of every 1000 people by gender in Bhutan between 1960 and 2000.
On the whole, Although the population of men who smoked experienced a declining trend throughout the period, they still dominated over women. However, smoking became more popular among females with time.
In each group of 1000 men, 600 of them liked to smoke in 1960. This was followed by a consistent decline as the figure reached approximately 500 in 1980 and continued to fall down, finishing the period under 300.
On the other hand, smoking was not common among women at the start of the period. In this regard, there were about 50 women who smoked out of 1000. Unlike males, the figure for female smokers went up by 150 in a decade, and peaked at around 350 in 1975. Nevertheless, women smokers decreased steadily with time, reaching 100 by the end of the era.
