The line graph provides the proportion of sales by three manufacturers – Motorola, Nokia and Sony Ericsson, between 1994 and 2004.
Overall, throughout the decade, Nokia’s sales increased, Motorola’s decreased and Sony Ericsson’s unchanged, albeit to varying degrees over the period.
Before 1999, the Nokia’s sales had slightly rosen in 1994 from just more than 20% to around 23%, before experiencing a 2-year fall. Then, after it had bottomed out at approximately a fifth, it started to sharply grow, consolidating itself dominating one. The growth ended in 2002 at approximately 38%, followed by a steady decline, standing at 30% in the end of the period, and showing a rank up from the company number 2 in saling the phones to the number 1.
On the other hand, Motorola ranked down from being the number 1 to number 2, and even, in 2000, was on the third place in phones trade. In the begining, its sales accounted for about 32%, however, unlike the Nokia, it experionced a smooth decrease, gentlly recovering in 2000 and onwards, till the end. Aa a result, it stood at just above 15%.
When it comes to the third company, its sales considerably fluctuated , the input and output indicators showed pretty the same measurements. Despite a little dip by around 1% in 1995, it grew until 1998, standing at 15% in this year. Later on, it followed a straight downward trajectory until 2003, and accounting for around 5 %, improving itself in the last year by almost 5%.
