The line graph compares the percentage of unemployed young people in five countries ( Italy, Britain, Sweden, France, Germany) between 2000 and 2012. Overall, unemployment rate in Italy and Sweden increased significantly, the reverse was true for Germany. Additionally, Britain and Sweden’s unemployment rates saw noticeable rises with some fluctuations.
Focusing on the increases first, four countries-Italy,Britain, Sweden, France experienced dramatic growths. Italy stood out with its highest unemployment rate. It started growing constantly until 2006, when it underwent a slight decline. After this , it recovered and kept going up, reaching its peak at around 45%. Next, France kept the track after Italy. Having started at 20%, it then rose consistently, peaking at 25% in 2009. After which it fell to 23% and recovered again in the final year. Similarly, Britain’s rate went up until 2008, then it fluctuated and ended at 25% in 2012. The last country which also improved was Sweden. This figure remained stable until 2004, after which it increased sharply to around 20%.
By contrast, Germany had the lowest unemployment rate among 5 countries.Having started at 10%, it then saw its peak in 2005. In final years, this figure started going down and remained unchanged in 2012.
