The line graph shows data about how unemployment rate young people aged 15-24 changed during 12 years from 2000 to 2012 in five European countries.
Overall,it is clear that all countries saw high rises except Germany. The unemployment rate grew noticeably in Italy, while Germany’s numbers declined significantly.
Italy started a period with the highest figures. However, they decreased gradually by 2002 to 19%. There were some fluctuations until the end of the period. By the end of the period, Italy had the highest unemployment rate among the five countries. Unlike Italy, Germany experienced declines over the years. In spite of some fluctuations, Germany had the lowest youth unemployment rate ,at nearly 10% in 2012.
Britain and Sweden began the period with similar numbers, at approximately 10% and 12% respectively. The percentage of youth unemployment rate in Britain grew strikingly until 2003. After this, the figures stayed constan for one year, from 2003 to 2004. Meanwhile, Sweden’s initial unemployment rates remained unchanged, after which, the numbers increased to 20% when period ended. Last country, France started with a youth unemployment rate of 20%. It fell slightly until 2001. The percentage of youth unemployment rate of France was about 24% when period finished.
