The chart illustrates the proportion of single-detached dwellings built in America by each region from 2006 to 2012. Overall, it is obvious that the trend of the line graphs seemed to decline dramatically and then increased, except for the statistic in the Northeast.
As can be seen, the most houses were constructed in the South, which demonstrated that the number of houses constructed was highest, about 900,000 houses respectively. Then this figure decreased to 300,000 in 2010 and made a sharp rise up in 2011, accounting for approximately 350,000 houses. In contrast, the proportion of the detached houses reached the lowest point, which was only under half of the highest point, lower than 200,000 houses. The same pattern can be demonstrated with a lower number of approximately 100,000 single-detached houses in 2012.
Regarding the period of houses built in each region of the US, we can see that in 2006, most houses were constructed in all regions. This figure was likely to have a significant decline to the bottom. Then the proportion of houses built rose slightly, except for the houses built in the Northeast, which continued to drop below 100,000 houses.
