The graph displays how many houses were built in various areas in the United States from 2006 to 2012. The number of constructions declined at similar rates during the six-year period.
In the first four years, the number declined in all areas, with the South region dropping greatly from 900,000 to 300,000. The West area also fell rapidly from 450,000 in 2006 to 150,000 in 2010. This trend also happened in the Northwest and Midwest, which both regions’ building projects dropped to approximately 100,000 projects in 2010.
Between 2010 and 2012, the numbers were slightly increased in most regions. Despite having the most significant drop in the past four years, there was a 50,000 increase in the South area in 2012. Similarly, an increase was also noticed in the West region, rising to 150,000 constructions in 2012. There was no change in residential building project numbers in the Midwest during this period, while the Northwest region displayed another drop to 50,000.
Overall, while the numbers fell significantly, there were some notable increases in the South and West region.
