Overall, the number of international visitors who came to the Uk for all purposes increased but in varying degrees. Notably, holiday is the most popular purpose in almost surveyed time while the opposite was true for meeting friends and relatives.
Examining the graph in greater detail, the number of holiday visitors was 6,5 million in 1989, and then this figure reached a peak of 9 million in 1994 before returning to the initial level. In the year 2009, this statistic recovered again to the highest point. Although having more fluctuations, holiday was the most common objective of overseas visitors.
The number of business travelers experienced a slight decline, from 5 million to 4 million in the first two surveyed year, and then this figure peak at 8 million in 2004, surpassing two remaining purpose. After that, this figure dropped modestly by 1 million in 2009 and became the second most popular purpose.
3,5 million of visitors came to the UK for visiting friends and relative in 1989 and then there was a considerable rise of 3,5 million in the year 2004 before falling again to over 6 million in 2009. Finally, meeting friends and relatives is the least common objective for international travelers.
