The line graph compares the amount of energy consumption by using six different sources of fuel in the America with the past data and prediction units over a period of 50 years.
It is clear that petrol and oil were by far the most important means of energy sources and also will continue its dominance in future. Hydropower source of energy provided the lowest amount of power over the period shown.
In 1980, petrol and oil power stations were the main sources of energy in U.S, consumed 35 Quadrillion units of energy. Coal and natural gas sources were used at moderate level for power consumption 16 and 20 Quadrillion units respectively. Nuclear, solar/wind, and hydropower sources provided a negligible amount of energy units.
In the following years, Petrol and oil energy consumption rose dramatically to a peak of 40 quadrillion units, it is estimated that this trend will continue at this pace and will reach at its peak level above 45 quadrillion units in 2030. In 1992, coal energy consumption overtook natural gas energy units and it will come as the second main source of power in 2030, by giving around 30 quadrillion units. By Contrast, the figures for hydropower and solar/wind sources will remained under 4 quadrillion for the rest of the period. Nuclear energy source remained relatively stable, will see a small rise in the last 5 years of question period.
