Overall, it is evident that percentage of travel by car experienced increase while reverse trend was seen on percentage of travel by bus. Additionally, the proportion of travel by rail and others was stable.
Regarding the percentage of travel by car and bus. Firstly, the proportion of travel by car grew sharply at the commencement from around 30% to 85%, from around 1985 to 2003. And then it experienced a gradual decrease, from around 85% to 70%, from 2003 to 2010. After the percentage of travel by car went up steadily from around 70% to 73%, between around 2010 and 2012, it declined slightly from around 73% to around 70%,from around 2012 to 2015. Next the proportion of travel by bus from 1985 to 2003, from around 2003 to 2013 and from around 2013 to 2015 dropped dramatically from around 55% to 12%, stable with around 12% and continuously declined from around 12% to 9%, respectively.
Concerning the proportion of travel by rail and others. Firstly, the proportion of travel by rail decreased gradually from around 20% to 10%, from around 1985 to 1998. Next, it increased slowly from around 10% to 11%, from around 1998 to 2000. Then the percentage of travel by rail experienced a slight decrease from around 11% to 9%, from around 1998 to 2003. After the proportion of travel by rail rose rapidly from around 9% to 19%, from around 2003 to 2008, it went down slightly from around 19% to 18%, from around 2008 to 2013. Finally, it grew steadily from around 18% to 20%, from around 2013 to 2015. Relative to the percentage of travel by others, it experienced a slight decline from around 9% to 7%, from around 1985 to 1990 then increased gradually from around 7% to 9%, from around 1990 to 1998. After percentage of travel by others declined steadily from around 9% to 7%, from around 1998 to 2000, it was stable with around 7% in the remain period.
