The graph illustrates data regarding three types of crimes, namely car theft, house burgling and street robbery which were committed in England and Wales between 1970 and 2005.
Overall, graphs for street robbery and house burgling remained stable then increased significantly and increased then fluctuated before decrease, respectively. When it comes to car theft, there was a dramatically increase and it got a sharp decrease.
Firstly, graphs for car theft started the period as a dominant over others at the amount of 0.4 million crimes and keep leadership till the end. It was peaked at 1.6 million numbers of crimes in 1995, however, despite reaching about 1.6 million, it witnessed a sharply decrease from to 1 million in 2005.
When it comes to house burgling and street robbery, at the beginning house burgling had significant increase from 0.2 to 0.6 million in 1980 and fluctuated around 0.65 million from 1980 to 1995, while street robbery still remained unchanged at about 0.1 million. Then house burgling and street robbery both got a significant decrease and increase, dramatically.
