Overall, the total number of crimes experienced a growth over the period. Interestingly, the car theft initially rose sharply but hten declined towards the end of the period.
Focusing on the crimes that saw higher numbers first, as regards the car theft, it stood at 0.4 million of crimes in 1970, when 0.2 million house burgling happened in the same year. After a decade, both the car theft and the house burgling witnessed a gradual rise to 0.8 million and 0.6 million respectively. 1 million car theft occurred in 1990, meanwhile roughly 0.5 million house burgling were seen in1990. The number of car theft dropped slowly to 1 million in 2005 after a sharp increase to 1.6 million in 1995, which was considered the highest figure. The house burgling underwent a continuous dip to 0.5 million at the end of the year.
As for street robbery, it started the chart with 0.1 million crimes in 1970, then it was followed by a flat trend until 1995. In 2000, a small rise was seen in street robbery to 0.2 million. In 2005, Its numbers remained stable.
