The chart and map illustrate the global preference for edible animal products and the current price for a few foods in stock.
The country that showed the highest willingness to eat insect goods was Mexico, with 71%, while the lowest interest was from Japan, depicting a red mark with 21%.
At first glance, Russia, the USA, Australia, and another handful number of countries seemed orange, meaning they were around 30-50%. For instance, India and Spain are willing to consume insect products for 32 and 33 percent, respectively.
Having slightly lower rates, Brazil and China were 44 and 45, depicting yellow. On the other hand, Mexico, Peru, and Thailand were highly likely to eat animal products.
There are a variety of foods made out of insects in the marketplace with a range of prices. It can be clearly seen that the wild insects such as weaver ant and bamboo caterpillar were the most expensive. Only palm weevil was bred, and silkworm and house cricket were farmed. The meats from agricultural animals such as cow or chicken and rice had significantly lower prices.
