The two plans illustrate that the working mine was transformed into a visitor attraction after redevelopment.
Overall, it is clear that the general design changed noticeably. Furthermore, the car park remained in the same place, while the footpath was removed, although certain areas were used for different purposes.
Before redevelopment, the area was mainly for a working mine, and there were waste tip 1 and waste tip 2 sites instead of a digger driving track, picnic area, and children’s play area, compared with after redevelopment.
Similarly, the office and staff changing room were knocked down and transformed into a museum. The entrances for the underground mine approximately stayed unchanged however, previously they were used for workers, and then this site was used for visitors. Furthermore, the medical room was converted into a cafe, and the lorry park was redeveloped into a souvenir shop. Despite that, the car park stayed on the same site. Lastly, it is noticeable that there was a removal of the footpath.
