The two maps illustrate the differences in one American town over a period from 1954 to 2014.
Overall, it is noteworthy that the area became more commercial than industrial. They relocated the supermarket and developed a commercial center instead. The park and factories were removed and substituted by a supermarket, commercial buildings and an airport, though the south-eastern part remained unchanged.
To begin, in 1954 the city was more residential and industrial, comprising 4 factories in the north-east. The residential area comprised 6 houses in the center of the city and 11 houses in the south-eastern part. The church was located in the south-west near the canal, which was running across the heart of the city. Additionally, there was a supermarket to the northwest and a park along the main road in the center.
In 2014 the town underwent significant changes. The government demolished the industrial area and constructed an airport and 3 commercial buildings. The church was knocked down and replaced by a huge sports stadium. Moreover, the local store in the northwest was relocated to the central part, taking place of a former park. Also, 6 houses in the center were pulled down and 2 commercial buildings were set up, through the housing area in the southeast remained unchanged.
