The diagram compares the floorplans of primary schools in four states in Australia between 2010 and present day.
Overall, it is clear that there are few changes to the design, mostly involving the repositioning of available facilities and the abandonment of a teacher’s room.
In 2010, the map featured two windows in the central top and left wall, which was next to some shelves, while a range of amenities such as a white board, an art area, adult and child sinks defined the right margin. Three round tables and surrounding chairs formed a single line in the center, with an adjoining teacher’s room facing the western window. There were two play areas on either side of the top and one on the left, while three corners except for the bottom right were filled with some trivial things.
The present redesign sees the addition of other shelves located opposite from the original ones, while the play area in the bottom left has been removed. The tables and chairs are also repositioned surrounding the bottom left quarter to enjoy the sunlight from the left window at the expense of the teacher’s room. Despite all of the transformation taking place, the left margin remains unchanged.
