The maps illustrate how Station Street changed between 1960 and the present day.

Overall, the area has undergone significant redevelopment. Most of the original shops have been replaced by a supermarket, a parking area, a café and a hotel, while the railway station and dry cleaner have remained unchanged.

In 1960, the northern side of Station Street contained a row of seven small businesses. From west to east, these were a pharmacy, a butcher, a toy shop, a book store, a bakery, a DVD rental store and a fish and chips shop. On the southern side, there was a grocery store and a public telephone area to the west of the railway station, while a dry cleaner was located at the eastern end.

At present, the northern side has been considerably redeveloped. The former shops have been replaced by a large supermarket, with a parking area to the west and a café to the east. On the southern side, the grocery store and public telephones have been removed and replaced by a hotel. However, the railway station and dry cleaner have remained in their original positions.
