The two maps illustrate how beachfront in Australia has changed from 1950 to the present day. Overall, the beachfront has become more built up with the introduction of one more car park, a surf club, and a restaurant. It is also evident that several places, such as a pavilion, dining tables, a lighthouse, and a car park were not subject to changes.
In 1950, the beachfront offered a limited number of its current facilities. Access to the beachfront was provided by a road parallel to the beach, which lasted till the car park. Beneath this road were located a playground, dining tables, and a pavilion, which was located in the central area. On the left-hand side of the beachfront, there was a small 25-meter pool, and on the right-hand side, there was another 25-meter pool, which was adjacent to the lighthouse.
Since then, the beachfront has undergone significant changes. For example, the previous playground was removed to construct an additional car park, while dining tables and a pavilion remained untouched. Another change was the enlargement of the pool in the left-hand corner. A new restaurant has been built on the left side of the beachfront, near the newly added surf club. The final change includes the addition of a surf club between the lighthouse and the pool, providing more facilities for visitors.
