The maps describe an industrial zone in Norbiton at present and its planned future development. Overall, a comparison of the two maps reveals a complete transformation from an industrial to a residential area.
Currently, a large number of factories are erected along the road to the south of the river while the farmland is located at the other side of the river. In the future, the area is expected to have a number of significant changes. The most noticeable is that all factories will be demolished to pave the way for houses. Moreover, a playground and school will be constructed in the east for children and teenagers, as well as a healthcare centre and shops which will be located along the large roundabout.
To the north of the river, only about half of the farmland will remain due to the construction of housing facilities. This will be accompanied by the expansion of the road network, including a bridge for river crossing and a small roundabout for entering the residential zone.
