The two maps illustrate how Nelson looked in 2000 and today. It is apparent that over this given period the city became more accessible once new forms of markets and transportation were introduced alongside the old ones. Some features of the Nelson city , however, were not subject to change.

In 2000, there were a few buildings , such as university, which was located in the northern part and line of trees near the university. Besides that, there was a special road for cars . Also, train station and old markets were placed in western part. At the bottom of city port was there.

In today , the general view of place changed noticeably.Old markets were demolished and new one built up instead of former.The main car road transformetted into pedestrian zone. In the center of city bike rental scheme was constructed. University were not altered but hall of residence was put into near the university. Besides, trees were l cut down and new shopping centre erected.Finally, below the port new restaurant and lively bars and clubs were located.
