The given maps illustrate changes in the layout of a town called Hilingford over a 15-year period, starting from 2000.
Overall, the town witnessed significant development when transforming from a modest community with limited commercial amenities into a more tourist – oriented settlement consisting of new leisure facilities, extended road system along with newly established residential zone.
Upon examining the left-side part of the main road, areas preciously occupied by the woodland and fields have been redeveloped to accommodate tennis courts and a playground. Additionally, the coastal road as long as a secondary road running parallel to it have been extended westwards, alongside which flats, restaurants and residential buildings were built. Notably, the country house in the upper-left corner of the map has been constructed into a new hotel.
Regarding the east part of the town, some buildings, including houses and a school, experienced no changes throughout the 15-year period, whilst the market has been converted into a more modern supermarket, followed by homes, which were located at the seafront, having been turned into a complex served for bed and breakfast purposes.
