The maps illustrate the current layout of the centre of a small town called Birshire and the proposed plans for its future development.
Overall, Birshire is expected to undergo significant transformation, with agricultural land being replaced by modern facilities such as a supermarket, a sports centre and a car park, while the road system will also be improved. In contrast, some residential areas and the public park will remain largely unchanged.
At present, the town centre contains several farms, including Farmer’s Market in the north-west, Griffiths Farm in the north-east, and Hoolahan Farm occupying much of the eastern side. There is also an open field in the south-east. Housing is mainly concentrated in the western part of the town, close to a small row of shops at the southern end of McDonald Road. Corbie Road and That Street run diagonally and horizontally across the northern section respectively, while a public park is located south of Hoolahan Farm.
Under the future plans, all farmland and the open field will be removed. Griffiths Farm will be replaced by a large supermarket, while Hoolahan Farm will make way for a car park and a sports centre. A roundabout will be constructed at the junction of Corbie Road and That Street to improve traffic flow. Although the shops will disappear, additional houses will be built in the southern area, and the public park will be retained in its current position. above show
