The images display the changes that occured at the beach resort in the United Kingdom from 1950 to 1990.
Overall, the beach huts were replaced by villas whereas sandunes were retained. Notably, a pool and a surf school were introduced.
To begin with, in 1950, there were sand dunes at the western side of the beach, whereas huts were centrally located. Towards the eastern part, adjacent to the huts was a woodland area. The sea occupied the southern region of the beach resort.
Meanwhile in 1970, the villas were erected where the beach huts initially occupied. However, the sand dunes remained untouched as well as the sea. Clearly, a caravan park took the place that was initially the woodland. By 1990, gardens had been planted were the sand dunes used to be. In addition, the villas had been transformed to a hotel that was situated at the center of the resort, whereas the caravan park was turned into a car park.
