The map illustrates the transformation and integration of the two villages, Meadowside and Fonton, from 1962 until now.
Overall, it can be seen that Meadowside village and Fonton, the neighboring town, have undergone dramatic changes with the construction of housing, entertainment facilities, and the merging of these two areas.
In 1962, Meadowside village and Fonton were completely isolated with no common boundaries. There was only a narrow northwest road going across Meadowside Village, while in Fonton, there was a northeast railway track.
In 1985, a considerable land extension occurred in the southwestern corner of Meadowside to make room for the construction of facilities catering to people’s demand for accommodation and relaxation. Besides the introduction of a housing estate, leisure complex, and superstore, the small road in Meadowside village was converted into the main road and was extended to the east, connecting the two isolated areas.
Currently, the most noticeable change has been the merging of these two pieces of land, converting Meadowside from an independent village into the suburbs of Fonton. Furthermore, a new hotel, station, and business park have been established, located between the town and its suburb. Another striking change is the construction of a track that connects the station and the inner area of Fonton and converges with the previous track at the eastern corner.
