The two floor plans illustrate the modifications that have been made to the layout of a bookstore from the year 2000 to the present day.
In general, it can be seen that the bookstore has altered tremendously over the given period. However, the most notable change was the introduction of a cafe and a seating area.
In 2000, the main entrance was located on the western wall, with the service desk situated immediately to its south. Next to the entrance, there were two small sections for ‘Travel’ and ‘New books’. The entire northern and eastern walls were occupied by ‘Fiction’ books. In the central area of the shop, three vertical shelves for ‘Art’, ‘Hobbies’, and ‘Cookery’ stood in a row, while a ‘Non-fiction’ section was located in the south-east corner.
In the present day, significant updates have been implemented. The large ‘Fiction’ section on the northern wall has been divided into four smaller spaces to accommodate ‘Art’, ‘Hobbies’, ‘Cookery’, and ‘Fiction’. The original shelves in the center have been completely removed and replaced by three study tables. Furthermore, a new cafe has been opened in the south-east corner, replacing the old ‘Non-fiction’ section
