The maps give information about the changes taking place in Nelson town from 2000 till now.
Overall, the Nelson town has undergone dramatic changes, particularly in the development of dining facilities and commercial areas. It is also worth mentioning that only the university has remained more or less unchanged.
In 2000, the Nelson town had a simple view. In the north of the area, there was a university just beside the green zone. In the western part of the town train station was situated and there was an old market near the city center. The road for vehicles was just below the city center and the port was located in the south of the area.
Up to today, the town has seen significant changes. To the west of the university hall of residence has been built and to the east of it, new shopping center has been constructed in place of the green zone. Between the university and the city center, new train station and tramline have been introduced. New bike renting program has been implemented in the city center itself. To both western and eastern sides of the city center, new shop and covered market have been erected and the existing road for vehicles has been converted into pedestrian only way. Finally, just by the port, restaurant, bars and clubs have been built.
