The map illustrates the beachfront in Australia from 1950 to today.
Overall, it is clear that the beachfront has become more modernised with significant changes. The main developments are the extra car park and an extension of the road leading from the city. Moreover, there are also more amenities which serve the recreational needs of the visitors.
Along the road that leads from the city to the sea, the former playground, which was the closest facility to the city, has been removed to make way for an additional car park. Additionally, the dining tables and the pavilion have remained intact immediately adjacent to this. The original road which used to end at the pre-existing car park has been extended all the way up to the lighthouse by the beach.
By the sea, a new surf club has been built right next to the light house, while the 25m pool still has stayed stable. However, the other 25m pool has expanded to 50m and also moved closer to the beach, making way for a new big restaurant and new club for surfers.
