The maps illustrate how more than 20 years of redevelopment have reshaped the layout of a university library.
In terms of overall transformations, the library has shifted its focus towards enhancing technology integration and automation, with the addition of automated book borrowing machines, private study desks, and desks for student laptops, replacing old elements like bookshelves, study tables, and book borrowing and returns. Of particular significance is the removal of the library office and the desks with computers to make way for desks for student laptops.
In 2005, what could be seen on the left-hand side of the library were bookshelves, which have since been replaced by automated book borrowing machines adjacent to the entrance. Not far from the top of the bookshelves, the former study tables have been removed to make room for larger private study desks within the library. This development, however, came at the expense of book borrowing and returns on the right side.
Despite these alterations, the bookshelves at the top, along with the entrance in the bottom left corner, have remained unchanged in their original positions. However, the upper right corner and the bottom left corner of the map now host desks for student laptops, replacing the former desks with computers, a library office, and bookshelves.
