The given pictures illustrate the way in which the layout of the Livertin docks changed for renovation purposes.
Looking at the illustration, it is immediately evident that almost all the features there have been replaced by some new features. Additionally, over the period from 1980 until now, the place has undergone a number of dramatic changes in terms of facilities with the introduction of new features such as a parking area, a sailing club, a kid’s playing area and other features.
In 1980, we can see that the layout of the features here looks quite confusing and unreasonable. There were a lot of ships that they put in the river, on the north side, there was a crane between two warehouses. There was also a crane put on the west side next to a warehouse.
Nowadays, the Liverton Docks have been reconstructed for residential purposes with a lot of new functions. The northern warehouses have been demolished and replaced with an education centre and a kid’s playing area with a sailing club between them. In the south, the warehouse have been eliminated and replaced by a hotel and apartments for the residents and a parking area. The cranes that stood on both sides have been devastated. Instead, there is a ship museum that now occupies the former docking area. The southern dockside has been expanded for a river walker beside the river, which is to attract tourists. A bridge and a flood barrier have been added for the safe of the residents. These changes reflect a significant shift from shipping functions to residential, educational, and recreational purposes.
