The maps delineate the structural change of the Happy Valley Shopping Center between 1982 and 2012.
Overall, it is manifestly evident that the elimination of the lake has created space for parking and furniture retail. Of particular note is the fact that the shopping center itself has remained its facilities, changing the eastern side with themed restaurants and food stores.
In 1982, the shopping center used to offer fewer facilities. Visitors entered from the west (entrance), near the lake. Just in front of the entrance, there was a lobby area, and at the top of the corner was a coffee shop. Beyond the coffee shop, in the northern side, was the food store. Adjacent to the food store, situated in the eastern side of the building were sports, electronics, and furniture stores. In the center of the mall, there was an entertainment area, which was dominated in the building with its size. At the bottom of the shopping complex, nearby the entertainment area was an elevator, which was an access to the second floor. Toilets were located at the left corner of the mall.
By 2012, the sopping complex undergone several changes. The parking lot and furniture retail covered the outside where the lake stood, with removing of the footpath. The center itself expanded its facilities, changing the stores with most of the new ones. Elimination of the lobby area has created space for the entrance. While toilets and elevator remained unchanged over the period, the furniture store was replaced by a food store. Sports and electronics stores gave the place for themed restaurants. In the place of food store, sports and electronics were positioned at the north of the building, exchanging for food store. Finally, coffee shop was removed from the building.
