The bar charts show various types of fuel that contributed to the electricity production in France in 1990 and 2010.
Overall, the percentage of nuclear power used to generate energy increased significantly toward the year 2010, while the reverse is true for remaining sources: coal, oil, natural gas, and hydro power.
In 1990, electricity was somewhat equally generated by four sources, not including hydro power as it contributed the least. Coal and natural gas were the main sources of electricity, representing 28% each. Oil cand nuclear power contributed slightly less, with respective figures at 22% and 17%. Finally, the hydro power showed the smallest figure – a mere 6%.
By 2010, however, the situation had changed with the dominance of nuclear power; a whopping 67% was contributed by this source. The oil and coal contributions decreased considerably, figures for both dropping at 13%. Notably, the biggest fall was observed in natural gas contribution, as the number decresed drammatically to 4%. More neglibile percentage of hydro power was used to produce electricity in France in 2010, just 2%.
