The given charts compare the proportions of time spent by adults in different activities in the working day between 1958 and 2008.
Overall, sleeping was the activity that spent the most time in both the examined years, whereas other activity held the opposite position.
In 1958, it can be seen that sleep and work were the most common activities, with the similar figures of about over one-third. However, the time that spent for their families and friends accounted for 10% of their time. Moving to the remaining activities, their figures hovered in the range between 8% and 2%.
In 2008, it is worth noting that sleeping increasingly took up more adult’s time in their working day, surging to two-fifths. Meanwhile, the percentage of work duration plummeted from 32% to one-fourth. Moreover, although the proportion of other time remained unchanged, the travel time increased by four times to 8%. Eventually, regarding the rest of activities, the duration that spent for them fluctuated from 8% to 13%.
