The diagram given illustrates the way in which wool is produced for commercial purposes.
Looking at the illustration, it is immediately evident that wool production is a manmade linear process that requires a combination of both human labor and machinery. Additionally, there are nine stages involved in that process, beginning with starting with sheep farming and culminating in the manufacture of finished woollen goods.
In the first stage, sheep are raised until they are mature enough to produce a thick layer of fur. After this, the fleece is sheared from the sheep and is then thoroughly cleaned in order to remove dirt and impurities. Following the cleaning stage, the wet fur is transferred into a drying machine, where moisture is completely removed. Once this has been completed, the dried wool is carded using a wire instrument so that the fibres are straightened and prepared for further processing.
At the fifth stage, the processed wool is formed into large tufts, which are subsequently stored in a warehouse in the sixth stage. During this process, unwanted strings are produced as a by-product and are recycled in the seventh stage. Next, in the eighth stage, the wool tufts are spun into balls of yarn. Finally, the yarn is used for knitting, resulting in finished woollen products such as jackets or carpets.
