Overall, the biggest contributor to a less productive land is over-grazing. Meanwhile, other causes were less significant. While Europe had the largest portion of degraded land, North America had the least. Notably, No size of land was destroyed by over there-cultivation in Oceania.

Regarding the causes of worldwide land degradation, deforestation and over-grazing were the key causes with 30% and 35% approximately. Overcultivation constituted a slightly lower portion with 28%. Other constituted just a meagre 7% of the overall causes.

In the case of the what led to land degradation by region, Europe’s land was largely affected by deforestation compared to its counterparts. North America and oceania’s effect were comparatively less with percentages less than 2%. North America’s land was less affected followed compared to Europe’s and Oceania’s.
