By 1990, the proportion of English speakers had fallen considerably to 55%. Despite this decline, English still remained the dominant language at the college. The percentage of Urdu speakers rose noticeably from 15% to 28%. Similarly, the proportion of Chinese-speaking students increased slightly from 9% to 11%. In contrast, the figure for students speaking other languages remained stable at 6% in both years.
