The pie chart shows how the global market share is divided among the main online travel companies in December 2022.
Overall, Booking.com has the largest share of the market, while Airbnb also holds a significant portion. In comparison, Trip.com, Expedia and other smaller companies make up much smaller shares.
To begin with, Booking.com has the biggest market share at 45%, which makes it the leading online travel platform. Airbnb follows with 31%, showing that many users prefer its accommodation services. Together, these two companies control more than three-quarters of the whole market.
Trip.com, a company from China, accounts for 12% of the market. Although this is a noticeable share, it is still much lower than the two leading companies. Expedia has 8%, which suggests that it still plays an important role, even though its share is smaller than before. Finally, the “Others” group makes up only 4%, representing many small companies with limited influence.
Overall, the data shows that a few major companies dominate the online travel market, especially those based in the United States.
