Overall, the share of arrested males was bigger than the percentage of arrested females, with public intoxication being the most common reason for both genders.
Regarding the percentage of arrested men and women, males dominated, making up 32% from 2015 to 2020. However, the ratio of women who were arrested comprised 9%, which is almost a quarter of the proportion of the same category among men.
Turning to the causes of arrest, public intoxication accounted for the vast majority among both genders, at almost 40% for women and around 30% for men. The largest differences between genders were witnessed in public intoxication (almost 10%) and in drink driving, with males comprising approximately 22% and females 14%. Breaking & entering and assault showed differences of around 6% and 4%. Both theft and the “other” category had a gap between genders of 2%, being at the bottom of the list.
